LAST MINUTE DETAILS... January 24, 2017

As we wind down to the last few days before departing from our homes and heading to various airports throughout the countries from which we are originating, there are always last minute details to consider.

For one, I will be doing my level best to jam everything into the rolling duffle bags which my grandson, J.T. and are loading up with TEAM shirts, and work TEE-SHIRTS, as well as work gloves, and about 300 tiny back-packs to distribute to the little children at the schools on the "dumps" outside of New Delhi, which is a project launched by the Rotary Club of Delhi - Megapolis.  Because the parents of these children are considered transients, and have no permanent address, the Indian government will not allow the children to attend government schools.  However, after the Rotarians adopted this project, once a child completes the sixth grade, the government has agreed to allow them to use the address of the school, in order to go on to higher education.

As most know, our team will be distributing the oral Polio vaccine to children under age five, located in Muslim villages in the Mewhat district - location of the last child to be confirmed a victim of the polio virus, back in 2010.  I have personally visited these villages for nearly ten years, and our DREAM TEAM members have vaccinated literally thousands of children and because we return at this time, every year, we are familiar to the villagers and they have come to trust us and to welcome us.  We are so looking forward to this experience.

More later...
